Registration for Language Certification Exams

Important information about Certification Registration

Dear candidates,

After a 2-year pandemic hiatus, the Alliance Française of Washington DC will resume offering French language exams this coming October.

The health and well-being of our students, members, visitors, faculty, and staff will remain our number one priority.

The AFDC’s Covid Policy, while following the guidelines recommended by the CDC and public health authorities, is stricter than  them, because of the AFDC’s circumstances as a historic row house.

This is why:

- All exam candidates must be vaccinated and up-to-date with their boosters (at minimum the first booster, i.e. 2 vaccinations + 1 booster): A proof of vaccination will be required upon entering the building.

- All exam candidates are required to wear a face mask (N95 recommended).

- All exam candidates must respect social distancing.

- No food or drink can be consumed on the premises.

The AFDC has implemented the following anti-Covid19 measures:

- Bacteria-killing UC Lights have been installed in the HVAC units;

- Air purifiers with HEPA filers are in all classrooms and offices;

- Hand sanitizer stations can be found throughout the building.

Seats for exams will be limited to 5 persons per exam session.

Please, look at the exam calendar for any upcoming exam sessions. Make sure you choose the correct exam when you register. If you have a question about which exam to take, please email Jessy at:  Each exam has strict opening and closing registration deadlines  (check each specific exam section).

Diploma and/or exam certificates must be picked up in person, upon presentation of a valid, government-issued, ID.

Should an exam session be cancelled for inclement weather, technical problem with the platform during the exam, sickness , act of God, or any other circumstance beyond our control,  the AFDC cannot be held responsible for any personal arrangements made by the candidate (transport, accommodation, etc.).

The CCIP (for the TEF) and the FEI (for the TCF and Delf-Dalf) will not refund the candidate for a missed session, nor reimburse any personal expenses engaged to come and take the exam, even if this latter is canceled for any reason whatsoever. This is why, based upon unfortunate pre-pandemic experience, we have decided not to accept any longer candidates who live further away than 75 miles away from Washington DC.

The AFDC will be an exam center for the following:

-TEF (General) and TEF IRN (Integration, Residence and Nationality)

-DELF & DALF (A1-C2)
