Following official information received yesterday pertaining to the Plan Vigipirate, applicable to all governmental and non-governmental institutions with a link to France, the  Alliance Francaise of Washington DC reserves the right to ask first-time visitors for their government-issue ID when they enter the building.

CONCOURS POÉSIE JEUNESSE FRANCOPHONE

2ème édition | 2024

Concours de Poésie Jeunesse Francophone est organisé par l’Alliance Française de Washington, DC dans le cadre du Festival de la Francophonie 2024.

Le concours est gratuit et ouvert à tous les jeunes francophones ou les apprenants de la langue française de 14 à 18 ans scolarisés (de la 3eme à la Terminale) ou non.

Toutes les formes d’écriture poétique sont acceptées. Le thème est « La Paix ». Les traductions sont exclues.

Adresser un à 2 poèmes format Word au directeur des programmes culturels Natasha Bollier: culture@francedc.org.

La longueur totale des trois textes combinés ne doit pas dépasser 2 pages (Times New Roman, taille 12). Par exemple, vous pouvez envoyer un poème de 2 pages ou deux poèmes d’une page chacun.

En tête de chaque poème seront notés : (1) les nom et prénom de l’auteur/l’auteure ; (2) sa date de naissance ; (3) son niveau scolaire et l’adresse de son établissement (le cas échéant) ; (4) son adresse postale (5) ; son numéro de téléphone ; (6) une adresse-mèl de contact.

Si l’auteur n’est pas natif de langue française, merci de le signaler et d’indiquer la classe de français qu’il prend (French 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or AP French)

Si vous avez gagné la première édition en 2023, vous devrez attendre encore un an avant de participer à nouveau.

La date limite pour l’envoi des poèmes est le 19 février, 2024.

Le palmarès sera adressé par courriel à tous les participants avant le 1er mars, 2024 et sera annoncé lors de la nuit de la poésie à l’ambassade de France le 1er mars à 19h00.

Les lauréats recevront un diplôme, ainsi que des prix :

$150 pour un natif de langue française

$150 pour un apprenant du français.

Tous les gagnants recevront également une adhésion (« membership ») d’un an à l’Alliance Française de Washington (l’AFDC), ainsi qu’un sac à main (« tote bag ») avec le logo de l’AFDC. Les lauréats seront aussi invités à réciter leurs poèmes lors de l’événement.

Francophone Youth Poetry Contest is organized by the Alliance Française of Washington, DC as part of the Festival de la Francophonie 2024.

This contest is free and open to all young people, native French speakers and non-native speakers, aged 14 to18, whether in school (enrolled in 9th to 12th grade), or not. Form are free, theme is "peace."

Send one to 2 poems in Word format to the Director of Cultural Programs Natasha Bollier: culture@francedc.org.

The total amount of text is limited to 2 pages (Times New Roman, size 12). For example, you can send a poem of 2 pages or two poems of one page each.

At the top of each poem should be noted: (1) the last and first name of the author; (2) their date of birth; (3) their current grade level and school address (if applicable); (4) their mailing address (5); their phone number; (6) a contact email.

If the author is not a native French speaker, please indicate this and indicate the French class they are taking (French 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or AP French).

If you were a winner of the first edition in 2023, you must wait another year before participating again.

The deadline for submitting poems is February 19, 2024.

The winners will be announced to all participants by email before March 1, 2024, and will also be announced during the Poetry Night at the Embassy of France on March 1 at 7:00 p.m.

The winners will receive a certificate, as well as prizes:

$150 prize for a native French speaker

$150 prize for a non-native speaker

All winners will also receive a one-year membership to the Alliance Française of Washington, DC (AFDC), as well as a tote bag with the AFDC logo. The winners will also be invited to recite their poems during the event.
