The Alliance Française offers seven weeks of camps in Summer for children ages 5-8 & 9-12. You can either sign up for one week, several, or all of them; your choice!
All levels and Francophones are welcome. Every week, we offer a new topic with hands-on activities and a specific field trip.
Week 3: This week, campers will become urban ecologists and creative thinkers as they explore the powerful role nature plays in our cities. They’ll observe how plants grow, communicate, and even transform their environment, then bring these ideas to life by designing a detailed city garden model throughout the week.
Campers will investigate pollination and the essential work of bees and insects, discover the surprising powers of plants, including carnivorous plants and plant communication, and experiment with natural colors and scents. They’ll explore the senses through hands-on projects like perfume and soap making, while expanding their scientific vocabulary and reasoning skills.
The journey continues with a local focus on Washington, DC, as campers learn about iconic trees like cherry blossoms and dogwoods, the Potomac River, and the city’s many green spaces. By the end of the week, campers will see their environment with new eyes and understand how nature and cities grow stronger together 🌳✨
Field Trip: TBD
Before-Care offered from 8am to 8:45am. After-Care offered from 3:45pm to 5:30pm.
