"Le Boot Camp" is a great way to hone your mastery of a particular grammar topic. This Boot Camp will be dedicated to "Connectors". This is probably the most difficult part of each language grammar.

What form and which connector will you use to express a cause, a consequence, a goal, a concession, an opsition, etc. What is the structure of the sentence after each connector?

Open to learners who have acquired a 400+ level. Class material included.

Placement Tests

Placement tests are required for new adult students with any prior experience in French at any institution and for returning students who have not taken a course at AFDC within the past year. There are two parts to the placement test â€“ a written prompt and an oral assessment. After you've completed the written prompt, AFDC will contact you to do your oral assessment.

These entry-level courses are designed for beginners to gain competency in French. This entry-level course is designed for complete beginners to gain competency in French.

This entry-level course is designed for complete beginners to gain competency in French, and is taught any time of the year.

A2: 103, 104, 105, 201

Way Stage / Elementary
(Cosmopolite)

This course is designed for beginners to strengthen their competency in French. Students will sharpen their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills necessary to identify vocabulary terms and utilize proper grammatical structures. Extensive preparation outside of class and active participation in class are required to succeed. Assignments will be assisted by texts, visual aids, and cultural reflection. Students will become familiar with engaging effectively in a variety of conversations in French.

B1: 202, 203, 204, 301, 302, 303

Threshold /
Intermediate Level
(Cosmopolite)

This course is designed for intermediate-level students working to strengthen their competency in French. Students will sharpen their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills necessary to identify vocabulary terms and utilize proper grammatical structures. Extensive preparation outside of class and active participation in class are required to succeed. Assignments will be assisted by texts, visual aids, and cultural reflection. Students will become familiar with engaging effectively in a variety of conversations in French.

B2: 304, 401, 402, 403, 404

Vantage /
Upper Intermediate Level
(Cosmopolite)

This course is designed for advanced students working to gain proficiency in French. Students will sharpen their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills necessary to identify vocabulary terms and utilize proper grammatical structures. Extensive preparation outside of class and active participation in class are required to succeed. Assignments will be assisted by texts, visual aids, and cultural reflection. Students will become familiar with engaging effectively in a variety of conversations in French. This course concludes the 300-level and enables students to move on to the 400-level.

B2: 304, 401, 402, 403, 404

This course is designed for advanced students to strengthen their proficiency in French. Students will sharpen their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills necessary to identify vocabulary terms and utilize proper grammatical structures. Extensive preparation outside of class and active participation in class are required to succeed. Assignments will be assisted by texts, visual aids, and cultural reflection.
