Virtual Quebec Film Festival: Kuessipan (Quebec, 2019)

The Department of French and Francophone Studies of Georgetown College, the Québec Government Office in Washington, and the Alliance Française of Washington, DC are proud to present the film "Kuessipan” (2019) by Myriam Verreault as part of the 2021 Virtual Quebec Film Festival. About the film
Adapted from Naomi Fontaine's acclaimed novel, Kuessipan (which means "your turn" in the Innu language) tells a story of two girls who grow up as best friends in a Quebec Innu community. While Mikuan (Sharon Fontaine-Ishpatao) has a loving family, Shaniss (Yamie Grégoire) is picking up the pieces of her shattered childhood. As children, they promised each other to stick together no matter what. But as they’re about to turn 17, their friendship is shaken when Mikuan falls for a white boy, and starts dreaming of leaving the reserve that’s now too small for her dreams. The screening is free, but advance registration is required. All registered people will receive an email with credentials to access Eventive to watch the film. The film will be available between October 15-17, 2021.
