Alliance Française of Washington DC, under the high patronage of the Embassy of Lebanon, is inviting you for a conversation with Dr. Noha Baz. This event is organized in the framework of the 2021 DC Francophonie Festival. Noha Baz will be in conversation with Sarah Diligenti, Executive Director of Alliance Française of Washington, DC.

Born in Aleppo and raised in Lebanon by a Swiss mother and a Syrian Lebanese father, Noah Baz is a pediatrician who splits her time between Beirut and Paris. She has dedicated much of her life trying to give a better life to the most disadvantaged children of her country. More than twenty years ago she established an association "Les Petits Soleils" which gives free healthcare support to the children in need. She is also passionate about Lebanese gastronomy, and is a dedicated food writer. Simultaneously with her medical studies, she also got a degree in gastronomy from the University of Reims. « La gastronomie est clairement pour moi une rencontre entre le plaisir et l’histoire » / "Gastronomy for me is clearly an encounter between pleasure and history," she says. Noha Baz established a literary prize Ziryab to reward French-language gastronomy or cooking books which highlight a history of regional, family, or cultural tradition. In 2019, she published her autobiography "Il n'y a pas de honte à préférer le bonheur" through which she shares her tireless optimism.

This conversation will be in English with reading of excerpts from the book in French.
