The return of AFDC's annual DJ series brings together our most eclectic selection of emerging Francophone DJs.
Don Mescal kicks off this year's series with a lively electro-swing party.
Second in our line-up is Valentin Stip, known for his unique, atmospheric compositions.
Then citizen-DJ of the world AlexFromTokyo will deliver one of his renowned sets, and finally, global bass music guru Mettabbana will bring the series to a close.

Montreal based experimental artist Valentin Stip is the first Dj to release on Nicolas Jaar's new imprint, Other People. Valentin is also part of the GEIST agency in Berlin. Fans of Nicolas Jaar are already familiar with the ambient and abstract sounds that this 21 year old talented Frenchman will offer to the Washingtonians on March 15 at Malmaison. In his album Sigh, the piano is the center point bringing together various Eastern percussion instruments. His sounds are indulging the audience into a meditative and unforgettable musical experience.
"I don't really have a style or genre-based approach. i try to make something that feels instinctively right. It involves a lot of searching but when I find that feels right, eventually it develops concretely." said Valentin.

Paris born, Tokyo raised NYC based international eclectic french DJ, producer and international co-ordinator. One of the strongest crossover DJ's in Tokyo, Alex has been playing regularly all around the world in Japan, Asia, New York and Europe. Besides the club scene, Alex has done music coordination, consulting and production work in fashion for brands like Y-3 and Louis Vuitton and played at the official party of the world famous art fair ART BASEL.

|Mettabbana's musical journey began with collecting and listening to international music 8-track, cassettes and haphazard vinyl as a teenager in his native Kosovo. today, his sets (including own tracks and remixes) usually consist of global organic bass music, medling raw analog and urban electronic music form Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, the Caribbean, his native Balkans and beyond. He has co-founded a number of monthly and bimonthly global music events in D.C such as Analog Soul Club, Tropic of Bass and Meso Creso's 1001 beats."
